Double Deck Trailer LOLER Examinations

Midland Truck Tech are the company to call for mobile hydraulic lifting deck trailer LOLER examinations and repairs.

Double decker trailers are now commonplace in the haulage industry.  Adding a second level to box and curtainside trailers allows for twice the number of pallets to be loaded onto a single trailer, increasing load capacity by up to 100% subject to weight limits and other constraints.  The latest development in trailer technology is the hydraulic lifting deck trailer, offered by the major trailer manufacturers.  These units are designed to reduce loading and unloading time, and also the total number of load lifts which must be performed.  They achieve this by mounting the upper deck on hydraulic rams.  When empty, the upper deck is lowered until it rests flat on the lower one.  The hydraulic deck can be quickly and efficiently loaded at this height.  Once it is full, the entire deck is lifted to its higher position, allowing for the lower deck to be loaded.

This system has many advantages over traditional trailer systems.  However, since they use a moving deck to raise and lower goods, these trailers fall under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).  These regulations stipulate that a double deck trailer examination be performed after every repair carried out and intervals of 12 months.  The double deck Loler examination is in addition to the inspections required under MOT and Roadworthiness regulations.

Midland Truck Tech offer single and double deck trailer services, including double trailer examinations, at our customers’ own premises throughout the East Midlands.  Our business model is based on mobility and flexibility, making for a convenient and cost effective solution for our customers.
